Baguio City Looking In: The Real Baguio Community

In the recent years there has been a surge in the number of people visiting Baguio City, and not just visiting but choosing to stay and purchase their own house. People fell in love with Baguio just as how people love Sagada nowadays.
However, it is undeniable that the former glory of the place is gone, when people come up they are sure to experience extreme traffic in every part of the city. But we are not here to talk about how Baguio City can be saved or should be saved. We are here to talk about the remaining hope that people do not see when they visit the City of Pines.

Baguio is an artist haven, while there are a lot of artists in the Philippines worldwide like Palawan, Davao,  and other remote areas there is nothing like the Art Scene in Baguio. Something that has been greatly overlooked by the government of Baguio.
Baguio is a brimming hot pot for the intellectual, here is the only city where people converge late at night to sit next to a bonfire to discuss new poetry material they have written. This is the only City that does not care whether you are a celebrity or not. This is a city where you are free whatever you want to be without the constraints of traditional pop culture.
However, in order to discover this treasure you need to meet them and be one with the energy of the people. The artists do not walk or thrive inside SM City Baguio, you cannot find them inside shopping malls. If you want to explore the real Baguio...the Baguio where creative people...you have to be willing to drop your worries, to stop acting like a tourist seeking for Strawberry jams and peanut Brittle... to enjoy Baguio does not mean wearing a hand knitted Baguio bonnet.

In order to see the other side of the Baguio that I love...you need to open your mind and wish for the universe to bring you somewhere where life exists.

Baguio City is the home of the artists, the dreamers, the writers, the book lovers. The food enthusiasts, it may be partly because of the climate that inspires people to go sit by the bonfire to read poems they have written...or the city merely attracted different types of people who wanted to get away from the bustling city of Manila.

This is the place where you can be you, where you can buy second hand clothes without being judged. Celebrities can walk in Session Road without being discovered. Baguio City is likened to New York City. A city that is free in thought and its potential has not been thoroughly used up. It is still a sleeping giant and contrary to popular beliefs,,,the city of Baguio is just starting out a brilliant story for all the world to see.
